For my first series of recommendations, reviews and thoughts for this blog, I’m going to start with a few of my favorites from SPX 2013.
I’d like to start by posting a rec for a fashion zine collaboration by Coleman Engle, Nick Sumida and John Lisle called Hi_RES. This zine is a surreal ride of three different art styles by three different artist. It’s broken up into three section for each artist. The zine is a 2 color risograph printing. Color value and slight mistakes vary from zine to zine. Making each copy “one of a kind”. I actually saw Hi_RES on tumblr before journeying to SPX. It was on my ‘gotta check this out’ list and I have to say I was not disappointed. I’ve found that I really have an attraction for risograph printed zines and comics. Even if this zine wasn’t risograph printed, it’s of great quality. I really enjoyed all threes art styles. All three artists are very different in terms of art style but the uniformed color scheme really brings the zine together. I really approve of the colors chosen. It only uses two colors - one warm, one cool. The contrast between them was a great visual choice. This was a great addition to my collection.

My first set of recs and reviews will be from my SPX haul :)

kimberlylikestodraw:

My SPX 2013 loot & business cards + stickers haul. I’ve decided to make a list of links to the artists and their work on this post (p.s. some things might be missing from the list).

You can see all the links to the comics and artbooks I’ve been collecting here

It had to happen. An entire blog dedicated to my personal recs, promotions, & reviews of mainstream and independently published comics, artbooks, & zines.

I’ve been putting together a collection for a few years and there have been so many wonderful new additions to my collection that I just have to talk about them.

STAY TUNED!
